Lists of numbers

Humans perceive the world through sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. We experience images, sounds, textures, scents, and flavors in three dimensions, yet much information gets filtered out.

Machine learning tries to mimic these processes by digitally encoding information as lists of numbers in high-dimensional spaces that only computers understand, and humans can't intuitively grasp unless projected back down to two or three dimensions.
